If your business is thriving and you have never done any type of marketing or advertising, you are the anomaly. There are a variety of ways companies market themselves to customers. Having your company’s name on your truck, placing yard signs at job sites, promoting your website, having a social media presence and word-of-mouth referrals are all effective forms of marketing.

So when a company is busy, do they take the name off of their truck? No, and other forms of marketing should continue as well. Even if you are busy now, maintaining an effective presence and top-of-mind awareness with consumers is key to you continuing to be busy later.

Google is a tech giant and household name. The company continues to advertise even though it has nearly monopolized the search engine industry. Even with a free vehicle in their own Google Adwords, Google sees the benefit of expanding marketing efforts to billboards and television advertisements.

In comparison, during the pandemic as millions of people bunkered down, Uber continued to advertise. Their ride-sharing program was drastically being used less. But instead of hoarding their pennies, they saw the benefit of remaining top-of-mind, in the consumer’s eye and supporting their comeback as the populations venture out of their homes again.

So if your company is thriving, kudos…but now is not the time to take your foot off of the advertising pedal. Scaling back advertising is understandable but eliminating marketing efforts is not advisable. Or consider this, instead of scaling back your advertising, scale up or expand your operations to accommodate your growth and success!
