Companies are hiring contractors for everything from photographers, social media managers consultants and even virtual assistants. When working with freelance professionals, realize they are business owners too. The relationship you have with a contractor needs to be mutually beneficial. Keep these considerations in mind and watch as both sides flourish and succeed!

I never thought I’d be a VA. I’m not sure what I wanted to be when I grew up…and I still don’t.

But I like being a VA because:

A good contractor has a great relationship with their client. But it takes two to tango. The successful contractor/client relationship should be mutually beneficial and cohesive.

Not all clients and agencies will be the perfect match. Making sure your contractor is the right fit is important. Feel free to ask questions to make sure the contractor can fulfill your needs and provide you with your desired results. But be prepared to be interviewed by your contractor to make sure you fit into their client model. Contractors have the right to not work with clients as much as clients have the right to move on from a contractor.

My story is not short and sweet. The road I took to get where I am had many detours. But each one made be better and prepared me to be who I am today.
